Two of Vermont’s most beloved songbirds share this annual holiday tradition for a remarkable TENTH season! Joined this year by Tyler Bolles on stand-up bass and Will Seeders on pedal steel, banjo and fiddle, you can look forward to a decidedly non-denominational holiday romp, replete with Brett’s originals, that plumb the depths of our collective seasonal longing and sentimental optimism, and great holiday classics, brought to life in a wholly unique and heartfelt new way. It’s a beauty of a show, intimate & funny & sad & sentimental & joyful all at once. Come share it with us!
Seating options include table seat for $35, which includes a free drink coupon and regular seating for $25.
There will be a cash bar and the option to purchase drinks throughout the show.
Kat Wright, whose voice is both sultry and dynamic, delicate yet powerful; gritty but highly emotive and nuanced, has been described as “a young Bonnie Raitt meets Amy Winehouse”. Add to that voice enough stage presence to tame lions, and the combination of feline femininity proves immediately enchanting. There’s soul flowing in and out of her rock ‘n’ roll with a serpentine seduction. Some of soul music’s sweet, grand dames belt, shout, seethe, and succumb, while Wright sings gently like a heartache’s apology. It’s funky in spots and beautiful all over. And it hurts a little … like it should.
“Brett Hughes has been a mainstay in the Burlington music community for years now, long enough that it seems all of his introductions say “this man needs no introduction.” And a decade or so from now, I can still see that being that case. All artists hope to perfect, perform and enjoy their craft, and it seems to me that Brett has all those boxes checked.”
