Are you a performer looking to get involved? Town Hall Theater’s resident companies provide a number of opportunities to share your time, energy, and talent with our community. This is by no means an exhaustive list of all local audition opportunities available to those looking to get involved in the arts.

Middlebury Community Players

The Middlebury Community Players is the resident community theatre organization. They present musicals, comedies, and dramas. In their own words: “Founded in 1959, the Players are an enthusiastic group of actors, directors, technicians, and production personnel from Addison County and beyond. The purpose of this organization is to further the interest of theater in Addison County, Vermont.”

Middlebury Acting Company

Middlebury Acting Company is Town Hall Theater’s resident professional acting company. Their Mission is to “produce plays locally, provide skilled actors, directors and designers with a chance to work, and to engage, challenge and educate our audience.” Auditions are held once a year, typically in February.

Maiden Vermont

Maiden Vermont is a women's a cappella chorus that specializes in barbershop style harmonies. From their site: “We sing regularly at fundraisers for non-profit organizations, summer, fall and holiday festivals, reunions, naturalization ceremonies, and private functions. Maiden Vermont is based in the Middlebury, Vermont area, but attracts singers from as far away as Colchester to the north and Middletown Springs to the south and all points between.”

Champlain Philharmonic Orchestra

As the resident orchestra of Town Hall Theater in Middlebury, the Champlain Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO) was Founded in 2004 and is a community orchestra, comprising some 50 players, drawing volunteer instrumentalists from the Middlebury, Vergennes, and Rutland areas.If you are interested in becoming a member of the philharmonic, please reach out directly to the organization.

Young Company

Are you between the ages of 12-23?

Young Company Musicals are run by THT’s Director in Residence Doug Anderson, for ages 12-18. Their recent productions include The Music Man Jr., Matilda Jr., Newsies Jr., and Oliver Jr. To learn about their most recent production, follow the link below.

Young Company Classical productions are run by THT’s Director of Center for Learning and Engagement Lindsay Pontius, and are open to ages 12-23. Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale, George Bernard Shaw’s Arms and the Man, and Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead. To learn about their most recent production, follow the link below.

Middlebury College Theatre Productions

Are you a Middlebury college student? Each year, MCMT produces one student-directed musical at Town Hall Theater. You can find updated information on their Instagram.
